IV. Executive Officer Reports
a. President — Mark Dirzulaitis
- Wiz Khalifa tickets going well, we’ve sold about 1100 so far
- Senior President Josh Ayal: 1100 people or 1100 tickets?
- Mark: Some people bought two, but it’s pretty close.
- Met with Dean Boswell and discussed President/Provost meeting agenda. Major goals accomplished (large scale Fall and Spring events, increase in Student Activities Budget). Want to thank them, talk about bigger picture stuff (Olmstead Lot, Freshman Quad, long-term projects, syllabi collection, research board). Start thinking of ideas to discuss at the meeting.
- Thanks to Wyatt for helping clean up SGA office.
b. Vice President — Elizabeth Duval
- Need to discuss absences/latenesses; 3 unexcused is a hearing, 6 is a removal. Hearing for Archie Henry will be next week.
c. Treasurer — Wyatt Larkin
- The budget started with $14,500 from Dean Boswell. At semester mark, spent a little under half; began year with roughly $30,000 in reserves (built up contingency money). Wiz Khalifa and reimbursements will take us down to $20,000. I will be attending Finance Committee meetings from now on.
d. Secretary — Diana Baik
- Senator Nick Trenton: Diana is excused/no new announcements. I will be acting secretary for tonight.
V. Committee Reports
a. Academic Affairs
- Soph. President Alexandra Larsen: Meetings will be Tuesdays at 9pm. We want to market the course selection website more the rest of semester. During sophomore class council meeting, Provost Minor suggested making online course reviews mandatory to view grades. Want to create a resolution to back this new system. Senator Max Dworin: Why are we supporting this if we already have the Merlin review system? Wyatt: Merlin data is rather incomplete. This information would give more accurate reviews.
b. Appointments and Evaluations
- Senator Mike Wu (excused): Kirk: Reviewed two constitutions for provisional groups, checked MSE’s staff application. Only received 2 out of 13 provisional group reports, so we’ll decide what to do with the other provisional groups in the coming week.
c. Campus Affairs
- Senator Stephanie Hsu: Meetings are Tuesdays at 6:30pm. We’re going to have another bike project proposal before end of semester. Kirk and I are going to work with Dean Boswell about online directory idea and put it on SGA website. Ben’s going to work on getting better scanners for library.
d. Finance
- Nick: Wyatt will be coming to Finance Committee Meetings from now on. Student Initiatives Grant has been relatively successful so far, we’re in the marketing phase at this point. Want to draft up a new proposal for the $100 start up funding for new student groups, will get it by next meeting. Anyone who has reimbursements, please come see me about getting reimbursed ASAP.
