2009-2010 Student Government Executive Board

President:  Mark Dirzulaitis

I am a junior double major in International Studies and Economics from New York City. I previously chaired the SGA Campus Affairs committee for a year and a half, and am also involved with Partnership for Learning, the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, and give campus tours for the Blue Key Society.  In my spare time, I love to cook, watch Mets baseball, read the economist, and spend time hanging out with friends.  I hope to work in government making economic policy some day.

As your student government president, I aim to refocus the SGA on pragmatically minded projects that make a positive impact on your life.  Among my previous work, I authored a pricing study of a campus food vendor to lower its prices, helped to plan an election watch event that saw the largest student run event turnout in recent memory, and authored an off-campus housing survey that will be part of an enormously helpful student services page the SGA plans to launch this year.

I am incredibly excited to be serving you all this year, and cannot wait to see what great things we will be able to achieve.

Vice President: Elizabeth Duval

I am from Santa Monica, California. Currently, I am a Junior and I am double majoring in Political Science and Writing Seminars. This will be my third year on the Student Government Association as I was a freshman class Senator and served on the executive board last year as Secretary.

On the SGA, I have already played a major role in bettering our school system. Some of my projects have included getting the Panini makers in the Freshman food cafeterias, starting the Mattin Market, and promoting the new JHU events website: events.jhu.edu. I love Hopkins and hope to make each year more memorable than the last.  This year as your Vice President, I plan to continue to make a difference here.

Our team wishes to build a strong constituency of student groups as well as provide students with a much needed JHU web portal and to advocate projects that improve campus unity. We aim to advocate for every student to make them feel apart of the greater Hopkins community, and hope achieve this with more large scale "signature" student events.

I look forward to working with our newly elected Exec Team. Together, we will make Hopkins a better place.

Treasurer: Wyatt Larkin

I am a Sophomore political science major from Chandler, Arizona. Prior to serving as executive treasurer, I was president of the class of 2013 and sat on SGA's Campus Affairs Committee. In addition to SGA, I am involved in the Blue Key Society, the Housing and Dining Advisory Board, Hopkins Hosting Society, the Admitted Students Day Planning Committee, Hopkins Christian Fellowship and my fraternity, St. Elmo's. Outside of Hopkins, I enjoy DJ'ing, cooking, and being a die-hard Arizona Cardinals fan. This year as treasurer, my goals include refining the new Student Activities Commission (SAC) funding system put in place by my predecessor, providing additional funding to student groups through quarterly SAC grants, and working to provide financial and logistical support to large scale campus life events, particularly those sponsored by the HOP and Spring Fair.

Secretary: Diana Baik

Hello there. I am a junior from Los Angeles, California, and apart from the SGA, I am involved with the HOP, Student Traditions Board, the Johns Hopkins News-Letter, Alpha Phi, and Alpha Kappa Psi.

During my time as Executive Secretary, I hope to improve communications between the SGA and the student body, and will work through various means (website, Twitter, e-mails) to increase transparency and keep students informed. I look forward to helping to enact policies that will have a direct and positive impact on student life, and foster a better sense of community. Your input is extremely important; feel free to come up to me or e-mail me with any suggestions or concerns regarding student life or the SGA.
