2009-2010 Student Government Executive Board

President

Marc Perkins

Bio:  Marc is originally from New Haven, CT. He is a Senior majoring in International Studies. Outside of his involvement with the SGA, Marc is the treasurer of Phi Kappa Psi, and he is currently preparing to run a branch office for a multi-million dollar marketing corporation over his summer break.

Marc served on the SGA first as a Senator, then Class President, of the Class of 2010.

As Class President, Marc focused on creating accountability to student interests by opening up new lines of communication with his class. He spearheaded the creation of an interactive e-newsletter called “Spotlight 2010” which features content submitted by his classmates. You can view the first issue of the newsletter online here: http://alturl.com/mxq . Marc has also organized regular Town-Hall style meetings with his class to encourage his classmates to interact with their SGA representatives.

As Chairman of the SRIC, Marc authored a White Paper on student life entitled “College Students at a Graduate School”. This report uses the results of a survey of 1219 undergraduates (which he organized under the guidance of several JHU faculty members) to explain why Johns Hopkins students are so dissatisfied with undergraduate life. The White Paper lays out a long-term strategy for the Administration to improve undergraduate life, and Marc is already meeting with Ron Daniels and the Deans to convert his plans into action. You can read the White Paper online here: http://alturl.com/gb2 .

Vice President

Evan Lazerowitz

Bio: Evan is from Franklin Lakes, NJ.  He is a Senior majoring in International Studies and Spanish.  Besides the SGA, Evan is a member of the Hopkins Track team, Debate team, Ethics Board, and a variety of student groups. Last summer he interned for a Superior Court Judge.  He plans to go to law school with a focus upon international law.

As an SGA Senator, Evan has focused upon improving student government, in order to make it a more representative and effective organization. Evan was the lead author of the new SGA Constitution, the first major re-write in more than five years, which changed Student Government’s name, focus and structure.  On the SGA, Evan is regarded as the foremost authority on the constitution, an important skill as the Executive Vice President must run weekly SGA meetings and be knowledgeable on all aspects of the SGA.

Treasurer

Mark Zamorski

Bio:  A Senior International Studies major from New Jersey, Mark is a very active member in Alpha Delta Phi, recently being named ADPhi Undergraduate Brother of the Year.

As Treasurer, it was Mark’s job to know where the SGA and its affiliates stand on all financial matters.  After a minor rewrite in the Student Group Funding Bylaws, Mark set off to fully renovate and rewrite Student Group funding for JHU.  This time consuming process is in its final stages of preparation before it becomes campus wide.  Mark has also worked in a smaller capacity balancing the budget of the SGA and its affiliate groups, most notably the SAC, which funds a large number of groups on campus.  A change of focus has shifted the SAC to fund more events that take place on the Hopkins Campus for all students to enjoy.  This policy is integral in the newly renovated Student Group Funding Bylaws, and should provide more events on campus for all to enjoy.

Secretary

Elizabeth Duval

Bio: Outside of the SGA, Elizabeth is part of the Blue Key Society, the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, and Model United Nations Club. Elizabeth is more than ready to serve as Executive Secretary next year: she is an incredibly approachable person and can type very fast.

Elizabeth's personal goal for the year is to create an interactive and informative email that can be sent out to the student body each year. Elizabeth believes that this publication will help inform students about the activities occurring on-campus. In this publication, she plans to recognize students for their work which normally goes unaccounted for here on campus.
