| Now that President Obama has recently ordered an additional 30,000 troops to Afghanistan – with a tentative time line for extraction set for 2011 – the debate over the United States’ military strategy has continued to intensify. As troops leave Iraq only to prepare for deployments in Afghanistan, the public has begun to question what objective or purpose could be achieved by continued American military presence in the Middle East. This panel will shed light on emerging schools of thought regarding that question and the possible courses of action that could yield positive results for US operations and a promising future for the people of Iraq and Afghanistan. |
